Clean Home, Clean Mind

by Cal

I'm visiting my parents for the holidays, and I'm a bit taken aback by how cluttered my old room is. Not messy exactly, but filled with so much stuff I haven't used in forever, if at all. I subscribe to the idea that your living space is an extension of your mind. So if your rooms cluttered, your head space might be too. 😕 Luckily, this is an easy fix! I've set a goal to discard at least 5 old things per day. Somehow writing a note about each thing makes me feel better about throwing it away. It reminds me of how Marie Kondo (remember her?) tells people to say "thank you for letting me wear you" to old clothes. I think it's a mindfulness thing. Then, I've set a habit to really think about whether I need something (non-consumables) before buying it. I've been guilty of mindlessly online shopping in the past, and I'm hoping that adding this extra step of intention will help reduce unnecessary purchases.

Reflect Before Buying
